I am delighted that the Polish Federation has at last got fed up with all the negative headlines in the Daily Mail about Poles, and complained to the Press Compalints Commission. All right, there may well have been positive articles about Poles in the Mail, but a constant barage of headlines such as "The Polish Baby boom", "The Polish Borat", "Polish migrants take £1bn out of the UK economy" and "The 450,000 Polish migrants who may be here for good" outweigh all that and add up to an insidious campaign. Whatever happened to the British tradition of tolerance ?

Good piece, I hadn't spotted that; in turn I've forwarded it onto an incredibly hot young Polish woman I know. Such is the beauty of e-media.
I would add that 'the British tradition of tolerance' is, I feel, alive and well in the vast number of people who don't read foolish, reactionary tabloids.
Don't blame them. Anyway how many polish families have you met that have excessive amounts of children. Many Polish that come here are single. How is it possible they take away from our economy. Any economist will tell you they've benefited us
Thank you Julian. And Ali - I was trying to defend Poles.
julian h, should you 'tolerate' those Brits who think their land and national treasure belong to Brits - and thereby let 'Britain' as such survive - Or should you continue to take what we think is rightly OURS and share it with Poles, Somalis, Zulus, and Chinese, against OUR wishes? The recent documentary on Enoch Powell claimed he had overwhelming support from Brits, 80%, by what right, if not democratic, do you ignore us?
ie. What is imperialism?
ali_wood, the type of economist which says "Polish immigration benefits Britian", would, if consistent, say that moving 6 Poles into his loft and four into his garage makes his family richer. Yet this they never do... It's obvious why.
I would counsel you, as you counseled us - don't blame US - don't blame the native working class who expect loyalty from their elites to US, not to Polish, Pakistani, and Somali immigrants who do jobs WE once would have taken.
Just as you advise, we don't blame the immigrants: we blame the political class who have rejected their responsibility to us, and adopted responsibility for foreigners. This robs us not only of opportunity in the workplace, but of a country, a nation, and an inheritance.
"Lee F": I will happily respond to your points if you wish to rephrase them in something approaching decipherable English syntax.
If you love this country so much then I suggest you get a grip of our wonderfully rich language and perhaps leave gratuitous use of capital letters to the Currant Bun.

You happily post comments to a blog which de-capitalises commenter's names. I think your claimed grammatical scruples are transparently phoney.
Julian, it might be worthwhile examining your 'capital' points in context of your earlier posts and mine.
Specifically, your defence of the the 'British tradition of tolerance', and my comments about less-educated voices being excluded from political dialogue.
Should we not tolerate the voicing of opinion by those who cannot read, write, or use grammar correctly? That's the judgement of your last post. How to square it with your first or deny my justification for making class-related points about the immigration non-debate?
julian h, having the inability to express ones self in 'proper' English shouldn't be the main focus of trying to win a political argument...you otherwise sound like a snob...and few people like that type! Please refute peoples argument before resulting to puerile arrogance, "it puts-off us plebs!" ;-)
It's not so easy or tempting to pose as a big-hearted, generous sharer of opportunity when the people whose opportunities you are giving away object, is it Julian?
